RE: Christmas lights on your RV?

Hey, Ya really want to make it fun? Keep the truck hooked up to it, put out the awning, some chairs with dummys in them sipping drinks, a barbeque grill with fake steaks and smoke, couple pink flamingos, lights on everything, and last but can't be left out, a walmart sign in the backround. Now that's a Christmas set up if I ever saw one. http://www.sff.net/people/llsoares/Hillbilly%20Logan.jpg

Maybe "Tobie" and "Chloie" sound the same to her. She is reacting to the sound of the name. :B I love that commercial.

Stays in, you want it? Come and get it. But I guarantee it won't freeze and break. Never has in 3 years.

RE: Say goodby to Saturn,GMC, Pontiac, and Saab

Yes Japan builds cars here. But the last I knew no foreign company was manufacturing cars here (there may be some I'm not aware of), they are assembly plants. Now where do they get their parts? Japan. Who do they buy them from? The "mother" company. I worked in an office with a CPA who used to work in the auto industry. He was well aware of this "built in the US" scam. Yes they are put together here. Yes they hire Americans to do it. But where does the capital earned go? Back to Japan. They buy parts at high prices which shows a lower profit here--meaning lower tax costs. Some of the plants I know have already closed and are being moved back to Japan. I agree there are issues that the domestics have to deal with--too high labor costs is just one of them. As pointed out most is the legacy costs (pensions, retiree health care, etc.) But when it's all said and done, if the domestics go we won't like the consequences much. I'm as conservative as they come (also have a lot of libertarian in me), I'm pretty much anti-union also but I can see the other side of the coin, which apparently a lot of those in this post don't. Again be sure you know what you wish for, because you may get your wish and not like it much when it happens. I'm not from Missouri but I'll have to be shown a Japanese company building F-350, F-450, and their GM, Chrysler counterparts. I can't believe, I see an American write--a foreign manufacturer promises to build our trucks for us if we just let our own auto industry die. I wonder, just who did win WWII? I think the history books are wrong! Wingrider6: Very well said. We are in a CATCH 21 with this auto issue. Bail them out, thus saving untold thousands of auto related jobs, or let them sink, also costing those thousands of jobs, and wage earners into personal bankruptcies. The trickle effect of these lost jobs would be enormous. The 70 dollar an hour for the factory worker might be a low figuring when you consider in MEDICAL, PENSIONS, VACATION TIME, ETC, all these perks of the job cost a lot of money. IE, getting 90% of your pay for years, and not working. So when we can hook up our 35' fiver to a HONDA RIDGELINE, we STILL need a Ford, GM, or DODGE as our vehicle of choice. This issue is by far to complicated for a simple sink or swim answer. Not to mention all the houses that will go into forclosesure. Honda ridgeline pulling a fiver. You'll se my trailer (if they still build any) being pulled by clydesdales. Everybody is so quick to flush GM down the toilet but what they don't understand is they will be flushing COUNTLESS others as well. GM makes the motors, shell, and a few other key components in cars. All those other parts are made by other companies...ie: bulbs, horns, steering wheels, electrical components, brakes, air bags etc.etc. Shut GM down and they will be shutting down countless other companies as well. Don't forget about the diners, restaurants, mom and pop shops in the towns which are home to factories whom depend on auto workers as a main source of revenue. Nobody seems to understand that these are not bail outs, they are loans....paid back at a hefty interest rate at that. AIG is paying 11% interest.....that's roughly $9 billion in interest per year. Think twice before you "give your blessings".....who knows, your company may be next. SSport: I just don't think some people get it. They have a snapper head about it, but when it happens they'll all be crying. I believe that the WORST will definetely come if this all in fact does happen. These people need to ask themselves, When MY neighbors house gets foreclosed, do you think your house will be worth more? But they don't care. To the OP: "Say goodby to Saturn,GMC, Pontiac, and Saab" Honestly, I don't think it will happen. If they do, this country is going to go to http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/censored.gif REAL fast. But they will get rid of the golden boys and their salaries and go chapter 11, reorganize and be stronger than ever. I have faith. This country and it's people will always be number one. If you don't love it, LEAVE. :W GO GM, FORD, and CHRYSLER! Did I just root for Ford & Chrysler? http://images.ugoto.com/emoticons/grin.gif

RE: Careful of Oil Change Shops....

You're lucky. My brother had one of those places cross thread his drain plug. Seems the guys at this lube place are taught to just put the drain plug in the socket of the impact wrench, hold it against the drain pan and pull the trigger. I think everyone who works at those places is http://fatdaddy.smugmug.com/photos/64138349_ndLbf-L.jpg

RE: HOW LONG??

Another fuel thread? Well, since I jumped in, I say gas will start going up when the traders start rolling again. I've noticed heavier traffic lately compared to when gas was 4.50 a gallon. Give it time, it'll go back up soon enough. Enjoy it while you can.

RE: TT or 5th Wheel

I agree with Joe even though he drives a Ford. http://www.thehulltruth.com/images/emoticons/kidding.gif :W When we had our TT, I wanted a 5'er, but the DW didn't. Oh well. I like the idea that the bedroom is upstairs. It really makes it feel like home, if you live in a split level or cape. My friends who own them never had a problem cooling the bedroom upstairs unless they wanted it hot. :E If it were me, this time we'd get a fifth wheel. :B -Joe

RE: Storage and Critters

Hello! I'm new to this Forum and to Travel Trailers...please bear with me. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o132/pats50fan/smilies/welcome4.gif to RV.Net Irene. I have a 2000 Wanderer 230fb trailer. We purchased it with intentions to leave it on our property near Kings Canyon/Sequoia. I worry about critters such as snakes, mice, other rodents and ants who may be able to get inside and do damage. I wouldn't worry about snakes much as they will go after mice. Mice will be the problem as they have a VERY good nose to sniff out what you left behind in the trailer. Clean it out VERY well and seal up any opening underneath. You can shine a bright light underneath at nighttime and look under your cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen sinks to see if you see the light. If you do, the mice will get in. Mice can get through a hole as nig as your fingertip, while a rat or chipmunk need a hole the size of a quarter. You can throw 2-4 boxes of mothballs underneath to throw off their noses. Cheyenne pepper works also. Don't use poisons as they may die inside the trailer and put up a BIG stink decaying. Dryer sheets are like "blankets" to them as they use them to build thier nests. As far as ants, get a bag or two of dimetrious earth and sprinkle that around underneath also. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do when you leave an RV/trailer? It will be sitting on compacted dirt at 3500' elevation. I would add some gravel underneath if it will be there for a while. Tires sitting in dirt isn't a good idea. You will get a lot of dampness underneath from the dirt also. Good Luck Thanks! Irene

RE: Whould you buy a new vehicle....

yes but it would be a honda ,not a gas hog ford chevy or chrys. honda made in ohio. Not sure how anyone feels about your comment but if you can not post anything intelligent you really should do yourself and the rest of us a favor and not post at all. By the way Chrysler is the only one of the Big Three behind in the MPG race and GM leads it way post Honda or Toyota and the Hemi Ram has a better MPG rating the the junk Ridgeline that Honda ripped off from GM! Don Don, I wonder if they think that honda factory is putting food on my table. http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/images/smilies/nope.gif Hondas are the biggest piece of http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/censored.gif I have ever laid my eyes on. I wouldn't care if they got 100 miles per gallon because I'd ride a horse first. And people wonder WHY the big three are going belly up. With the remark from midnightsadie, I sometimes wonder who they think lost blood and froze to death fighting for this country when there little asian economy piece of http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/censored.gif is putting more money in the asians pockets then ours. Wake up. BUY AMERICAN. Not to mention (that store where people overnight in the parking lots) what THEY are doing to this country. People don't give one bit of damn, but for themselves. If it's cheap, costs less, and puts my brother out of business, they'll but it. That's http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/censored.gif, but sadly, the way it is for tons of people in this country. I wouldn't own a jap car, truck, or otherwise. I try to keep my money here. Even with a tough global economy, I TRY. -Joe
